PDA Mobile Phones

PDA mobile phones combine the best of both worlds. You can talk on the phone, but you can also use it just like your PC. PDA stands for personal digital assistant and who could not use a personal assistant, digital or otherwise? You can access your PC at home or at work and send and receive e-mails while you’re on the go.

The business uses of a PDA mobile phone are just about endless. Business users particularly like the push e-mail. You can set up push e-mail through Microsoft Exchange or Blackberry Enterprise servers and your email will transfer directly to the PDA as it comes into your in box. Personal and third party solutions are also available through other network carriers. Of course they do not have the power of a desktop PC, but you can edit documents from your office, send and receive e-mail and faxes, and take and send photos from your phone.

Most of the latest PDA mobile phones come with a high speed downlink packet, Wi-Fi, and GPS with installed mapping software. I imagine people who travel a lot for work love having the GPS. There is nothing worse than being in strange city with tons of traffic and not knowing where you are going. If you are trying to look at a map and drive, you’re likely to be run over by the locals. When I travel with my husband, I am the co-pilot and I think my job would be way easier if I had GPS.

Some of the top PDA mobile phones include the Palm Treo, Blackberry Bold, i-Mate Ultimate8502, and HTC Touch Pro. All of these models have pretty much the same features; HSDPA, GPS, and Wi-Fi. The main complaints with a couple of them are the tiny keyboard. The exception is the HTC model which boasts excellent keyboards according to users. The downside to that model is that it is “sluggish” and has an average battery life. The Blackberry Bold gets high marks from most users because of its simple e-mail setup and excellent battery life, but users feel that some of the installed software could use a little improvement. The biggest complaint is that Blackberry service is very expensive.

The PDA mobile phones are expensive, but think of them as an investment in your career. Of course, if you are one of those people who just have to have the latest gadget on the market, that’s OK too. These little devices will deliver.
