No Contract Cell Phones

We all have enough bills these days. Everyone is looking for ways to cut expenses and a lot of us do not want to be locked into a contract for cell phone service. No contract cell phones are offering more attractive options than in years past. My husband and I both have one and it works well for us. We got rid of our landline over a year ago and we do not miss it at all or the accompanying monthly bill. I have to say we are not big phone users, but even if you are there are plans that offer unlimited talk and text for a very reasonable price.

The no contract cell phones are a great option for teens. They can get the latest phone and talk and text to their heart’s content for around $35.00 a month. Tracfone lets you buy minutes as you need them and whatever you do not use rolls over. The same is true of AT&T’s go phone and T-mobile’s no contract phone. Boost mobile offers unlimited talk and text for $50.00 a month and if you stay for six months the monthly cost drops by $5.00 a month to an eventual low of $35.00. For $5.00 a month extra you can have international talk and text.

When I first got a Tracfone, I was working about an hour away from home at night. It made me feel safer to have it in case I had car trouble. At that time, it was kind of a pain to buy minutes. You had to redeem them over the phone and it took forever. Now most no contract plans allow you to add minutes online or even right from your phone. You can often purchase a card for a year’s worth of service. Some plans give you double minutes for life when you purchase a phone. I have found that if you look online for coupon codes you can very often get additional minutes free with the use of the code.

You are not limited to basic phones. It just depends on how much you want to spend. I paid about twenty dollars for my phone a couple of years ago and bought a much nicer one recently for my husband for the whopping price of ten dollars. Now if you have teens or tweens who are pestering for a phone, that’s the way to go. You will be a lot more tolerant when they tell you they left it on the bus, lost it, or dropped it in a mud puddle. I think it’s a great way to teach them to manage their use too. When they are out of minutes, they can no longer chat. A no contract cell phone is a winner for you and for your kids.
