Cell Phone GPS Tracking
Cell phone GPS tracking can take several different forms. Cell phones can actually be tracked without being GPS enabled. You can do this by tracking the distance the phone being used is between cell towers to triangulate the approximate location of the caller. Come on, they do it all the time on Criminal Minds and other crime dramas. How in the world did they catch all those bad guys before this was possible?
Another use for cell phone GPS tracking is for navigation. You will not need to visit AAA to have your trip mapped out for you. It can be done right on your cell phone. Maps can be downloaded and you can figure out how fast you are going, your ETA, and your current position. How many of us Google or use MapQuest when we are going to an unfamiliar location? I have to admit, sometimes the direction they give you may not be the most direct route, but they’ll get you there. I am not great with maps, but I find them very useful.
Location monitoring is very useful to the police. They use the information transmitted from the cell phone to the tower to pinpoint the location of the caller. This is especially helpful when a 911 call is made from a cell phone. You can also use GPS to track your kids. It is relatively inexpensive costing around $6.00 a month for four phones. You can monitor your teen’s driving habits and location. They can’t really use the old studying at the library speech and get away with it. You’ll know exactly where they have been. That also goes for the working late story. Watch out all you fibbers; you will get caught.
You can also get fitness performance information on your phone. Take it on a bike ride or run and you can see where you’ve been, how fast, and how far you’ve traveled. There are a number of apps available so you can take advantage of nearby attractions while you are out and about. Maybe you want to check out an Italian restaurant. Some of the applications will give you the nearest few restaurants, plus menu items and prices. I love the commercial where the parents tell their child there are no ice cream shops in the area and he just punches it into the phone and they’re busted. If cell phone GPS tracking sounds a little too Big Brother for you, you could just refuse to own one, but the numerous traffic cameras will probably find you any way.
