3 Mobile Phones

3 mobile phones or 3G mobile phones are better known as third generation mobile phones. This refers to a standard of telecommunications and in order to meet this standard a 3G phone must allow simultaneous use of speech and data services. They must also provide peak data rates of 200kbits/s. Recent releases denoted 3.5G and 3.75G also provide mobile broadband access to laptop computers and smart phones.

The first commercial 3G network in the United States was by Monet Mobile Network. It was later shut down and Verizon Wireless was the second 3G network operator opening in October 2003. AT&T Mobility is also a true 3G network. Japan and South Korea were the first nations to launch 3G networks and it is estimated they have 70% 3G usage. In 2009 T-Mobile rolled out a list of more than 120 U.S. cities provided with 3G coverage.

3G networks offer greater security than their predecessors. The user equipment authenticates the network it is attaching to, so the user can be sure the network is the intended one. There are some applications which were previously unavailable to mobile phone users. With a 3G mobile phone, you can watch TV or have a movie sent directly to your phone. Video conferencing where participants can see and hear each is other is another application. The Tele-medicine application allows an isolated subscriber to receive advice from a medical professional. In addition location based services such as weather, traffic, or directions can be accessed on your phone.

3G mobile phones are particularly attractive to technology savvy young people. They are able to access all the social networks from their phones. Face book, Twitter, and My Space are just a touch away. Today’s 3G phones are lightweight, attractive and have many functions aside from connectivity. They act as mini video players, music players, personal planners and offer information storage. There is a reason they are nicknamed pocket PCs. They have much of the functionality of your desktop or laptop, but are much more portable.

Just about every manufacturer of 3G mobile phones has an internet presence. You can check out every model available as well as all the plans right from your PC. Many times you can get the phone for free when you sign up for one of the provider’s service plans. Everyone likes something free and even if they are not free, the cost is often much lower when purchasing a phone with a contract.
